MY FIRST BUDDY SESSION: A TESTIMONIAL OF PAIN AND FUN
by David Sprinkle
Like most of you, I have had a number of one-on-one training sessions with Dawn. You know what I’m talking about: 1/2 way through you ask yourself how you can possibly push your body to do what Dawn is asking you to do. 3/4 way through you are asking for deliverance from the pain. And when you are done, you are high-fiving yourself for completing another great workout.
I have been doing one-on-one training with Dawn once a week for almost 2 years now. When Dawn suggested a buddy session with another of her long-term clients, I figured it would be a way to get a workout between my regular sessions that would save me some money and be more laid-back. I was right about saving the money, but oh-so-wrong about the difficulty. Dawn structured the session to really maximize the time, and even built in a little competition that made each of us push harder than normal. For example, she had us toss a five pound rubber ball to each other while doing squats and trying to balance on Bosu balls. Each person had to do a push-up at the end of the session for each fall, so we were giving each other more and more challenging catches to see who would be doing the most push-ups (I did more, 10-2).
The bottom line is that a buddy session is an economical way to get a great “exercise space” workout that is a lot of fun. Dawn’s attention to your workout is just as focused as during a one-on-one session. I would recommend it highly.
