Try These Four Things…

walking-feet.jpgIt’s here…that time of year with the yummy food and treats that are so hard to resist! Thanksgiving is right around the corner so lets start planning a healthy holiday now. We don’t have to join the all the other American’s who typically gain 5lbs from now through New Years…and you know - make it your New Years resolution once again to lose weight!

So let’s try these 4 things:

1) Keep walking past the candy bowl in the office (I know it is hard, but after the fist time you do it it’s gets easier.) Think about how hard you work to keep fit, and will that chocolate bar really make you feel as good as just finishing an hour workout session? If that doesn’t work - imagine me smacking your hand when it is reaching in the bowl, I have a mean slap - so I think (although I don’t remember smacking anyone… ever).

2) Make time for exercise, even if that means just WALKING everywhere…even a ten minute workout will get your heart racing and metabolism burning. Contact me for a 10 minute workout target your whole body - and the best part is no gym needed!…so no excuses for not having a block of time to go to the gym. (dawn@theexercisespace.com)

3) Stop making excuses - NOW. There is always going to be something else you need to do…give yourself the needed stress reliever of a good workout. If friends want to meet for Happy Hour, talk them into a 30 minute walk first, then go share a glass of wine…or at least take the 30 minute walk yourself and then meet up with them a little late (less time for a 2nd drink).

4) Prepare your favorite dishes, just ‘healthier’. What do I mean by healthier? Start by checking out an earlier post I wrote a while back : Healthy Eating Tips

And don’t forget, vigorous cleaning before guests come over to enjoy your heart-friendly meal, counts as a workout!  As does raking leaves, washing the car (wash your neighbors for extra caloric burn!), and playing tag outside with your children (if you don’t have any of your own, again, borrow your neighbors, I don’t think they’ll mind).

And lastly - enjoy.
